Salina Yoon

Salina Yoon Salina Yoon is simply passionate about inspiring children with her art and ideas. She is the prolific author/illustrator of dozens of innovative novelty books for the very young, having published with Scholastic Inc, Simon & Schuster, and now exclusively with Penguin Young Readers Group. She creates at least a dozen new books a year with Penguin, and has her own line of books branded, "A Salina Yoon Book."

This love for children's books now has crossed over to RJR Fabrics with a fabulously fun line of fabrics designed just for kids, called "Salina Yoon KIDS!" - much of which is inspired by her books. The art is bright and bold, and concept driven.

Born in South Korea, Salina immigrated to the U.S. at age 4 with her family. She studied graphic design and illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She later worked at a small children's publishing house as a designer, then as art director, for three years before freelancing on her own.

Salina now lives and works at home in San Marcos, with two separate art studios; one for her husband who's a gifted painter of surrealistic historical portraits, and one for Salina's ever-flowing creativity... just for kids. They have two little boys that bring joy, spontaneity... and a lot of energy into their lives that is evident in their work.

"It's a great life to work in an environment full of things you love. When you smile while you work, your work makes you smile."
